Delete or correct a payment

A payment can't be edited: delete it and record it again.

Where to find it

On a phone: Billing, then Payments, then the bin on the payment
On a computer: Payments, then the bin on the payment's row

The page of each invoice it paid has the same bin, under Payments.

Steps

Find the payment in Payments, or on the page of an invoice it paid.
Press the bin on its row.
Delete this payment? says what will be deleted and what each invoice will have left to pay.
Press Delete payment, or Back to keep it.
If the money did come in, record it again with the right amount, date, family or method.

An example

Huda's AED 1,310 transfer paid what was left on INV-2026-0001 and AED 1,000 of INV-2026-0002. Deleting it, from either invoice or from Payments, deletes all of it:

INV-2026-0001, AED 310 left to pay again: AED 310
INV-2026-0002, AED 1,290 left to pay: AED 1,000
Deleted: AED 1,310

What happens next

Each invoice it paid shows that money as left to pay again, and an invoice it had paid in full no longer reads Paid.
On the Detailed dashboard, Paid goes down and Unpaid goes up by what it had paid on invoices. On the Simple dashboard they move by the whole amount, less any of it that was paid ahead. The family's Balance due goes up by the whole amount.

What parents see

In Billing, their balance goes up by the amount, and the invoices it paid show what's left again.
Nothing is sent to them.

Good to know

Nothing about a payment can be edited, not its amount, date, method or notes. Delete it and record it again.
A payment that paid several invoices is deleted whole, from every invoice it paid. The dialog names them.
Deleting can't be undone.
Cancelling an invoice never deletes a payment that also paid other invoices. Its part goes to the family's other invoices first, then counts as paid ahead.

If something's not right

The invoice's page has no bin next to the payment.

The invoice is cancelled. Delete the payment from Payments instead.

"Couldn't delete this payment. Try again."

The connection dropped or the page was out of date. Refresh it and press Delete payment again.
